Barbara K. Zedler, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Barb Zedler is a co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Venebio Group, LLC.
With nearly 15 years of life sciences and 10 years of clinical practice, Barb has a particular interest in personalized healthcare and translational medicine. She has managed and contributed to large-scale industry-academic research collaborations focused on disease understanding and prevention and biomarker discovery, including the use of molecular epidemiologic approaches. In addition, she has contributed to computerized clinical decision support algorithms.
Barb has served as principal or co-investigator on more than 150 FDA-regulated clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas and has directed more than a dozen studies, actively managing all aspects from study design through conduct, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting. In addition, she has provided clinical leadership of pharmacoepidemiology studies and drug safety and pharmacovigilance activities. Barb is experienced in safety signal detection (including statistical data-mining approaches), evaluation, refinement, and validation.
Barb has co-authored numerous scientific publications, presentations, and reports. She has represented clients at regulatory agency meetings as well as engaged with leading scientists and the public health community regarding a reduced-harm approach to tobacco control policy. Barb has provided clinical guidance in support of intellectual property development, patent prosecution, and technological and scientific due diligence.
Barb received her MD from Northwestern University and a BS in biochemistry from Illinois Benedictine College. She is board-certified in internal medicine.
