Kym is General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer at Venebio Group, LLC.

Kym has three decades of litigation and management experience as a litigator, in-house counsel and executive leader. Kym joined Venebio after serving as Vice-President Human Resources, Legal and Sustainability for Silgan Dispensing Systems, a global company specializing in the manufacture and sale of plastic injection molded dispensing solutions. When the company doubled in size in 2020, Kym led successful process improvements integrating the global population of 6000+ employees across five continents on management systems covering HRIS, payroll, learning management, contract management, product stewardship and safety systems, often configuring new systems from scratch. Under her leadership in sustainability, the company made major advances in sustainability with company ratings improving from D to B- (CDP) and Bronze to Gold (Ecovadis).

She is a change agent and program architect with a passion for growth, efficiency and driving results. Prior to her role with SDS, Kym managed global litigation for WestRock Company (formerly MeadWestvaco) a global, publicly traded paper company specializing in packaging solutions. In that role, Kym led a team of lawyers managing the company’s global litigation docket and internal advice and counsel on commercial disputes, human resources and compliance. During her thirteen years with the company, Kym managed successful litigation outcomes on large and small matters spanning IP, antitrust, employment, trade secrets, construction, contracting, tax and personal injury. She directed the company’s asbestos docket, successfully achieving insurance coverage for claims through coverage in place agreements and resolving cases (including managing jury trials). She also created many of the company’s compliance programs and training. Prior to her roles with SDS and WestRock, Kym worked at Massey Energy Company, serving as Special Counsel to the President Don Blankenship and Senior Counsel. She began her career as an associate at Squire, Sanders and Dempsey in Columbus, Ohio in employment litigation and continued to become a partner with Stoll, Keenon & Park before moving to -in-house roles. In these roles, she litigated employment discrimination and tort claims (fatalities and catastrophic injuries) and worked with clients to create internal programs to manage risk through policies and training. Kym served as a frequent speaker on managing employment issues and litigation tactics.

Kym received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her B.A. in Political Science and French, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Millsaps College. Kym is a member of the Virginia bar and a past member of the Kentucky and Ohio bars.
